AIGA portfolio review and design slam

Founded just a year ago AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts) Alaska is still a fairly new chapter. But you wouldn’t know that by their events list…

…the Debbie Millman lecture on the importance of branding, a lecture on proper contract practices by Andrew Mitton, and the Aaron Draplin lecture, to name a few from the past. And just recently, I had the pleasure of being a reviewer at the AIGA Portfolio Review and Design Slam. It was pretty refreshing seeing the work of a few promising designers. And it was equally as awesome being a spectator at the Design Slam — where 5 designers, chosen at random, squared off in a 30min poster design competition. It was amazing to stand back and watch the process of other designers. Winner Lance Lekander took home an iPad 2! A really fun and creative team they’ve got on board here.
