Ya know, when I see projects from my rookie years, I can’t help but cringe. Besides the slight warm feeling of embarrassment, there’s a bit of pride. Pride in knowing that there was such a desire to just create anything, even with the slightest inspiration. And apparently, back then, I loved burning sweet mix CDs.

This is another personal project I used to send out to friends. If I thought you were cool enough for a mixtape, you’d get a burned CD packaged with a nice message. Synopsis: Just as the sun brightens our world, the people we know can have the same brilliant effect on us. I’ve tried to convey that idea through an abstract expression of the sun, breaking down its many colors to brighten a plain piece of paper. Adding human elements, the imagery becomes a visual expression of one’s persona. Knowing that the sun promotes vitamin D, I experimented with including a sample.
