‘Black in Alaska’ exhibits the wide range of diversity within the Black community of Alaska. The multimedia project is an initiative of the Rasmuson Foundation to combat the lack of positive media surrounding Black people in our culture. Through storytelling, the project aims to create a deeper connection between fellow Alaskans.

The brand had to be meaningful and strong yet simple enough to support and not distract from the gorgeous photography and written content. The logotype, very simply, illustrates a relationship between Alaska and its Black community.

Just like the brand, the website follows a simplistic and highly functional approach as well. With a robust, customizable narrative builder and multiple-point navigation, the website is built to produce a visually engaging experience while encouraging users to explore stories through a system of categorizing and tagging.
